Dr. Kiran Patel and Dr. Akhil Patel deliver at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, WV . The hospital features a newly renovated, family-centered labor and delivery unit with a special care nursery staffed by a neonatologist, a lactation consultant, childbirth and baby care classes, and a complimentary car seat for every new family.

How often do I need a Pap smear?

Women aged 21–29 should have a Pap smear every three years. Women aged 30–65 may be screened every three years with a Pap smear alone, or every five years when combined with an HPV co-test. Women with certain risk factors may need more frequent screening. Your provider at Patel & Patel, M.D., Inc will recommend the right schedule for your individual needs.

What birth control options are available at Patel & Patel, M.D., Inc?

We offer a full range of contraception options including birth control pills, Liletta® and Paragard® IUDs, Nexplanon® implants, hormonal injections, patches, vaginal rings, and natural family planning counseling. All IUD and implant insertions are performed right in our South Charleston, WV office during a routine visit.

Yes. Patel & Patel, M.D., Inc offers state-of-the-art in-office 3D and 4D ultrasound services performed by four registered ultrasound technologists. Our practice is accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). In-office ultrasound is available for both obstetric monitoring and gynecological diagnosis — no outside referral or travel to a separate facility required.

How do I request copies of my medical records?

All medical records requests must be submitted in writing with your signature. You may fax your request to 304-766-4337 (Attention: Medical Records) or mail it to our office at 401 Division St, Suite 306, South Charleston, WV 25309. A fee of $10.00 plus $0.75 per page applies and must be paid before records are released.
